Overview

This is Desh Darshini's first commercial trip and our most-requested weekend trek — a short, high-reward route to the highest Shiva temple in the world and a summit with a genuine 360° Himalayan panorama, without needing a week off work.

We keep groups small, build in a rest evening at Chopta before the summit push, and treat Deoriatal as an optional detour rather than a forced add-on, so the core trip stays comfortable for first-time trekkers.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Chopta +

Depart Dehradun early morning by shared vehicle via Rishikesh–Rudraprayag–Ukhimath. Scenic drive along the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Arrive Chopta by evening, check into base camp, dinner and briefing around a bonfire.

Day 2: Chopta to Tungnath to Chandrashila to Chopta +

Early start for the trek to Tungnath temple (3.5km), continuing to Chandrashila summit (another 1.5km) for sunrise views of the Garhwal Himalayan range. Descend back to Chopta by early afternoon, rest, optional short village walk in the evening.

Day 3: Chopta to Dehradun +

Breakfast and check-out, drive back to Dehradun with a stop en route, arriving by evening. Trip concludes on drop-off at the designated pickup point.

FAQs

Is this trip suitable for solo travellers? +

Yes, solo travellers are common on this trip and are grouped into shared rooms/tents with fellow trekkers of the same gender.

Is Deoriatal included? +

No — Deoriatal is offered as an optional add-on so the core itinerary stays relaxed. Ask us on WhatsApp if you'd like to include it.

What if the weather turns bad on summit day? +

Your trek lead makes the final call on safety. If Chandrashila isn't advisable, we trek to Tungnath temple and adjust the plan on ground — your safety comes first, not the itinerary.
