Desh Darshini started with one trip, one group of friends, and a simple idea — Uttarakhand deserves better than copy-pasted itineraries.
Uttarakhand — Devbhoomi, the "Land of the Gods" — is one of India's most travelled states, yet most travel companies treat it as one stop on a pan-India catalogue. We chose to go the other way: focus on one region and actually know it, rather than run everywhere and know nowhere.
Garhwal and Kumaon are where this brand lives — the temples, the trails, the villages between the famous stops, and the people who've spent their lives here.
We plan trips the way we'd plan them for a close friend: honest about what's included, realistic about difficulty, and built around actually experiencing a place rather than rushing through a checklist. That means smaller groups, local stays and guides wherever possible, and itineraries that leave room to slow down.
We keep group sizes small by design, follow Leave No Trace practices on our treks, and route as much of our spend as possible — homestays, guides, drivers, meals — back into the villages we pass through.
Long-term, we want Desh Darshini to be the name people think of first for Uttarakhand travel — a genuine one-stop platform for discovering, planning and booking trips across the state, built on repeat customers and word of mouth rather than paid ads.
Desh Darshini grew alongside Dehradun Endurance Club (DEC), a Dehradun-based multisport outdoor community. DEC's picnics, safaris and endurance events built the first circle of travellers who trusted us with their trips — it remains a close, associated community, separate from Desh Darshini as a business.
